Lavina GRIT 30, QUICK CHANGE, GOLD TRAPEZOID PAD WITH TWO BUTTONS FOR EXTRA HARD CONCRETE

- Aggressive metal-bond grinding pad for the first cutting pass — 30 grit is a recommended starting point for opening up the concrete, exposing medium-to-large aggregate, and removing coatings. Per Lavina's published guidance, contractors typically start with 14, 30, or 70 grit metals to open the slab before progressing through finer grits.

- Lavina X / S series Quick Change mounting — the new X-Quick Change trapezoid pads attach directly to the heads of Lavina X and S series machines with no special plates required. Important compatibility note: the new X-QC system is not cross-compatible with the previous Quick Change tooling designed for older Lavina PRO and SPS models, which use a separate plate system. Verify your Lavina machine generation before ordering.

- 2-button (double-segment) configuration for heavier machines — two diamond buttons per pad create more surface contact than a single-button, extending tool life and stabilizing the cut. Lavina recommends double-segment tools for grinders 30" and larger, where the extra contact patch helps the machine pull weight efficiently. Single-button pads cut faster on lighter machines under 25".

- Engineered for extra hard concrete — Gold is one of Lavina's soft-bond options designed for hard concrete that would otherwise glaze standard bonds (diamonds polish smooth and stop cutting). Lavina's color scheme is its own system distinct from other manufacturers: Yellow series for soft concrete, Grey for medium, Red/Gold/White for hard. The Gold bond sits in the soft-bond hard-concrete range, alongside Red and White, and is engineered to wear away faster on purpose so fresh diamond is continuously exposed.

- Counterintuitive but correct: soft bond on hard concrete — using the wrong bond on a hard slab causes glazing. If Grey tooling is glazing on a hard slab, Gold is the typical next escalation in the Lavina system. If Gold also glazes, alternatives include reducing machine weight, slowing RPM, adding water mist, or applying silica sand (30 grit) to reopen the diamonds. Run a Mohs scratch test before committing if slab hardness is unfamiliar — Lavina also offers Black Cap Cutters for the extreme end (Mohs 8–9, 9,000+ PSI).
