Bartell 16 GRIT DOUBLE SEGMENT - ORANGE SLIDE-MAG - FOR MED TO HARD CONCRETE

Regular price $46.25

- Most aggressive metal-bond grinding segment in the Bartell line — 16 grit is the coarsest standard size, designed to tear through thick coatings, heavy mastic, epoxy overlays, glue, and badly worn or contaminated concrete surfaces in a single aggressive pass.

- Bartell's proprietary Slide-Mag quick-change mounting — uses a combination of wedge compression and embedded earth magnets to keep the tooling firmly attached to the grinder regardless of material being removed. Designed specifically for Bartell grinders and other machines equipped with the Slide-Mag fastening system. Not cross-compatible with Lavina dot/button platforms or Husqvarna Redi-Lock systems — confirm your grinder uses Slide-Mag before ordering.

- Double-segment configuration for tool life and refinement — two diamond segments per shoe create more surface contact than a single segment, extending tool life and leaving a more uniform scratch pattern. Best paired with larger / heavier walk-behind grinders (25" and up) where the extra contact patch helps the machine pull weight. For aggressive stock removal on smaller machines, a single-segment 16 grit cuts faster but wears out sooner.

- Engineered for medium-to-hard concrete (Mohs 6–8) — Bartell uses a simplified 3-color bond system distinct from the Lavina/Elite scheme: Purple for soft to medium concrete, Orange for medium to hard concrete (Mohs 6–8, including most power-troweled commercial slabs and harder mix designs), Green for hard to very hard. Bartell includes a Mohs scratch test kit with its tooling sets specifically so contractors can confirm the right color for the job.

- Step up from purple when glazing appears at 16 grit — orange is the next escalation when the purple bond begins to glaze on a harder slab (diamonds polish smooth and stop cutting). At 16 grit specifically, glazing is particularly costly because it stalls the heaviest stock-removal step of the entire job. If orange also glazes, step up to green; otherwise reduce machine weight, slow RPM, add water mist, or apply silica sand to reopen the diamonds.
