Bartell 25 GRIT Single Segment - ORANGE

- Aggressive metal-bond diamond segment for the first cutting pass — 25 grit is the standard starting point for surface prep and polishing jobs. The cutting surface opens up the concrete, removes coatings, exposes aggregate, and creates the profile needed for subsequent grinding and polishing steps.

- Bartell's proprietary Slide-Mag quick-change mounting — uses a combination of wedge compression and embedded earth magnets to keep the tooling firmly attached to the grinder regardless of material being removed. Designed specifically for Bartell grinders and other machines equipped with the Slide-Mag fastening system. Not cross-compatible with Lavina dot/button platforms or Husqvarna Redi-Lock systems — confirm your grinder uses Slide-Mag before ordering.

- Single-segment configuration for aggressive cutting on light machines — a single segment per shoe creates less surface contact than a double, which means faster cutting speed and more aggressive material removal at the trade-off of shorter tool life. Recommended for grinders 25" and smaller, where the lighter machine weight benefits from the increased per-diamond pressure that a single segment delivers.

- Engineered for medium-to-hard concrete (Mohs 6–8) — Bartell uses a simplified 3-color bond system distinct from the Lavina/Elite scheme: Purple for soft to medium concrete, Orange for medium to hard concrete (Mohs 6–8, including most power-troweled commercial slabs and harder mix designs), Green for hard to very hard. Bartell includes a Mohs scratch test kit with its tooling sets specifically so contractors can confirm the right color for the job.

- Step up from purple when glazing appears — orange is the next escalation when the purple bond begins to glaze on a harder slab (diamonds polish smooth and stop cutting). If orange also glazes, step up to green; if neither cuts, the alternative is reducing machine weight, slowing RPM, adding water mist, or applying silica sand to reopen the diamonds. Run a Mohs scratch test before the first cut if you're working on an unfamiliar slab.
