DiamaPro 7" Flexible Backer Pad, 5/8"-11
- Required mounting accessory for hook-and-loop polishing pads — this is the bridge between the grinder and any 7" hook-and-loop resin polishing pad (honeycomb pads, satellite pads, sponge pads, transitional resins). The pad attaches to the grinder by the 5/8"-11 threaded arbor, and the hook-and-loop face holds the polishing pad in place. Without a backer, the polishing pads in this category cannot mount to a hand grinder.
- 5/8"-11 threaded connection for universal 7" grinder fit — the standard 5/8"-11 thread is the most common spindle size on 7" hand grinders across all major brands (DiamaPro HGX-7, Metabo, Bosch, Makita, DeWalt, Milwaukee, etc.). Always verify the grinder's spindle thread before ordering — some grinders use M14 thread instead of 5/8"-11, in which case a thread adapter is required.
- Flexible construction for even pressure distribution — the "flexible" designation means the backer compresses slightly under load, letting the polishing pad face conform to floor contours, lippage, and minor surface irregularities. This delivers a more consistent scratch pattern and gloss across imperfect floors than a rigid backer would. Rigid backers cut faster on perfectly flat surfaces; flexible backers finish more uniformly on real-world slabs.
- The single most important pad-and-mount compatibility check — the backer's diameter must match the polishing pad's diameter. A 7" backer pairs with 7" pads only; do not run a 5" pad on a 7" backer (exposed hook-and-loop edges spinning at high RPM are a safety hazard) or vice versa (pad overhang creates an unbalanced cut and damages the pad edge).
- Required for the DiamaPro Honeycomb resin polishing line — every 7" honeycomb pad (30, 50, 100, 200, 400, 800 grit) requires this backer to mount. Maximum operating RPM is typically 8,000 for 7" hook-and-loop systems; always verify the backer's stamped max RPM against the grinder's rated speed before use, especially with variable-speed polishers that can exceed safe limits if mis-set.
