Elite Series - 6 Grit Single Segment Blue Medium to Hard Concrete

- The most aggressive metal-bond grinding segment available — 6 grit goes below the standard 16-grit "coarsest" tier, designed for extreme stock removal where even a 16 grit isn't fast enough. Tears through the thickest coatings, heavy industrial mastic, multi-layer epoxy overlays, severe surface deformities, and badly damaged or contaminated slabs that need significant material removed before a normal grinding sequence can begin.

- Single-segment configuration for maximum cutting speed — a single segment per shoe creates less surface contact than a double, which means faster cutting speed and more aggressive material removal at the trade-off of shorter tool life. At 6 grit specifically, the goal is speed, not longevity — this is a tool you run hard, replace, and accept the cost as the price of getting through tough prep fast.

- Engineered for medium-to-hard concrete — covers the broad middle-to-upper range of slab hardness (typically 4,000–6,000 PSI, Mohs 5–7). The blue color code in Simiron's Elite range designates a softer metal bond, which wears away faster on purpose to keep exposing fresh diamond. On harder concrete, a hard bond would glaze and stop cutting; this softer bond keeps the diamonds active throughout the grind.

- Leaves a deep scratch pattern by design — at 6 grit, expect visible groove lines, exposed aggregate, and a rough surface. That's the point. After this pass, the progression must step up through 16, 25, 40, 80, and 100-grit metals before transitioning to resin pads. Skipping steps after a 6-grit cut will leave a scratch pattern that resin pads cannot remove.

- Specialist tool for severe prep, not a regular sequence starter — most jobs start at 16 or 25 grit. Reach for 6 grit only when the floor presents extreme conditions: deep coatings to strip, surface deformities to grind out, or large stock removal that warrants the extra step. Used correctly, it can cut hours off a heavy prep job; used unnecessarily, it just adds a step and prolongs the grind.
