Elite Series - 80 Grit Double Segment Blue Medium to Hard Concrete

Regular price $40.00

- Fine-grit metal-bond grinding segment for transitional work — 80 grit sits at the end of the metal-bond progression, refining the scratch pattern left by coarser grits (16, 25, 30, 50) and preparing the slab for transitional and resin polishing pads. Removes the deeper score lines from earlier passes while leaving a uniform surface ready for the next polishing stage.

- Double-segment configuration for tool life and refinement — two diamond segments per shoe create more surface contact than a single segment, extending tool life and leaving a more uniform scratch pattern. Best paired with larger / heavier walk-behind grinders (25" and up) where the extra contact patch helps the machine pull weight. At 80 grit specifically, the smoother scratch profile from a double segment translates directly into less work for the resin polishing stage that follows.

- Engineered for medium-to-hard concrete — covers the broad middle-to-upper range of slab hardness (typically 4,000–6,000 PSI, Mohs 5–7). The blue color code in Simiron's Elite range designates a softer metal bond, which wears away faster on purpose to keep exposing fresh diamond. On harder concrete, a hard bond would glaze and stop cutting; this softer bond keeps the diamonds active throughout the grind.

- Counterintuitive but correct: soft bond on hard concrete, hard bond on soft concrete — using the wrong bond on a hard slab causes glazing, where the diamonds polish smooth and stop cutting entirely. If you see glazing on the job, the bond is too hard for the floor — blue is the softer option positioned between red (medium) and any extra-soft white/grey bonds for the hardest slabs.

- Premium tier in the metal-bond range — Elite Series tooling carries higher diamond concentration and stricter QC tolerances than entry-level segments, delivering more consistent cut depth and longer usable life on commercial-volume work. The double-segment configuration compounds that value by extending the runtime per shoe, making this the higher-ROI choice for contractors running enough volume to justify the slightly higher per-unit cost.
