Elite Series - 80 Grit Single Segment Blue Medium to Hard Concrete

- Fine-grit metal-bond grinding segment for transitional work — 80 grit sits at the end of the metal-bond progression, refining the scratch pattern left by coarser grits (16, 25, 30, 50) and preparing the slab for transitional and resin polishing pads. Removes the deeper score lines from earlier passes while leaving a uniform surface ready for the next polishing stage.

- Single-segment configuration for aggressive cutting on light machines — a single segment per shoe creates less surface contact than a double, which means faster cutting speed and more aggressive material removal at the trade-off of shorter tool life. Recommended for grinders 25" and smaller, where the lighter machine weight benefits from the increased per-diamond pressure that a single segment delivers.

- Engineered for medium-to-hard concrete — covers the broad middle-to-upper range of slab hardness (typically 4,000–6,000 PSI, Mohs 5–7). The blue color code in Simiron's Elite range designates a softer metal bond, which wears away faster on purpose to keep exposing fresh diamond. On harder concrete, a hard bond would glaze and stop cutting; this softer bond keeps the diamonds active throughout the grind.

- Counterintuitive but correct: soft bond on hard concrete, hard bond on soft concrete — using the wrong bond on a hard slab causes glazing, where the diamonds polish smooth and stop cutting entirely. If you see glazing on the job, the bond is too hard for the floor — blue is the softer option positioned between red (medium) and any extra-soft white/grey bonds for the hardest slabs.

- Premium tier in the metal-bond range — Elite Series tooling carries higher diamond concentration and stricter QC tolerances than entry-level segments, delivering more consistent cut depth and longer usable life on commercial-volume work. At 80 grit specifically, that consistency matters more than at the coarser steps because any scratch left here translates directly into the resin polishing stage that follows.
